Year 6 have been really busy learning! From volcanoes to classification, swimming to recount writing, they have been working very hard indeed.
Our first swimming trip was fantastic and the children were complimented by the staff for their excellent behaviour.
In English we have been learning about graphic novels. Our text has been David Almond’s ‘The Savage’. We enjoyed writing recounts based on the chapter where the savage rides a pig in Mr and Mrs Stockoe’s pig pen. We retold the story from their point of view.
In science we have started our learning on Living things by looking at classification keys and sorting out liquorice allsorts by observing their characteristics.
Below are some examples of their work on volcanoes in Geography. We have been considering why people live so close to volcanoes.
We have enjoyed learning about pointillism as an art technique through the work of Georges Seurat. We used this type of brush stroke to paint volcanoes for our art project.
